Hi, I’m Libby, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Mindset Coach for Athletes.
I played competitive soccer throughout my childhood into young adulthood. I lived the experience of balancing my demanding athletic schedule with academics, the expectations of my parents, coaches, and teammates, performance anxiety, and the impacts of my personal life and mental health on my athletic performance.
My experience as an LPC is in a variety of settings – community mental health, schools, and private practice. I’ve worked with children, teens, young adults and their families in every setting. I’m also a billet Mom for a local Junior Hockey team and have the pleasure of hosting players during the season.
I am driven to combine my professional expertise with my personal experience to shift the mentality around mental health in athletics.
Over the past few months, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with Libby as she developed her mental performance guide for coaches, and I can confidently say this resource is a game-changer.
First and foremost, Libby deserves tremendous credit for recognizing the critical need for this kind of guide—one that bridges the gap between mental performance theory and day-to-day coaching practice. While many acknowledge the importance of the mental side of the game, few take action to create tools that are both practical and impactful. Libby not only identified this need, but also committed herself to creating a guide that coaches can easily understand, adapt, and apply with their athletes—whether on the ice or beyond it.
Her dedication to improving how coaches approach mental performance is evident in every detail of the guide. She combines deep expertise with an approachable, coach-friendly tone, making complex topics accessible without losing their substance. What stood out most to me during our collaboration was her openness to feedback. Libby welcomed input from a coach’s perspective and genuinely worked to incorporate it, ensuring the final product wasn’t just based on theory, but grounded in the real-world experience of those working with athletes every day.
Libby’s work will no doubt have a lasting impact. Coaches across the country will benefit from her thoughtful, well-structured approach—and more importantly, so will the athletes they mentor. Her guide is a much-needed tool that will elevate both coaching practices and player development for years to come.
– EriK MELANSON (Hockey Coach & parent)
This guide is designed for hockey coaches at all levels who want to intentionally develop the mental side of the game. Whether you’re working with 8U players or high school athletes, you’ll find age-appropriate tools to help your team build confidence, emotional control, resilience, and better on-ice habits.
After years of working with athletes, parents, and coaches, I saw the gap: coaches want to support the mental game but don’t always have the time, training, or tools to do it well. This guide was built to close that gap—with practical drills, mindset strategies, and coaching tips that fit right into your existing systems.
Most resources talk about mindset. This guide shows you exactly how to teach it. You’ll get differentiated tools for different age groups, practice-ready activities, and expert insight from a licensed mental health professional who’s worked on both sides—as an athlete and a counselor.
Yes! I offer support calls, team workshops, and ongoing consultation options. If you’re interested in more direct support beyond the guide, just reach out and we’ll explore the best fit for your team or organization.
